Money
“We do live in turbulent times. Often the future is unknown; therefore, it behooves us to prepare for uncertainties. Statistics reveal that at some time, for a variety of reasons, you may find yourself in the role of a financial provider. I urge you to pursue your education and learn marketable skills so that, should such a situation arise, you are prepared to provide.” -President Thomas S. Monson
How much is money worth to you? Finance is a big topic related to marriage. 80% of divorces result because of financial problems or issues. My mom has taught me a lot about money and her experience with finances. My mom works for my grandpa she is a bookkeeper of taxes, businesses, farms, and other equipment. My grandpa was a CPA but now is retired and still is a commercial farmer. They both love the business world and like money. I don’t know a whole lot about business and accounting. So, this semester I took both Introduction to business and accounting, and I enjoy them. All the terms and concepts my mother talks about make more sense to me now. I like to make money who doesn’t so I have worked since I was sixteen. I saved up but also spent my money throughout the years. My parents make me pay for my college and rent so I have successfully paid two years of rent and college with no debt. My parents have helped me out with a vehicle though I am currently saving up to purchase one eventually. Honestly, I am very proud of myself financially in life and how far I have come. My motto is I work I buy. I love to work.
My parents have two separate bank accounts. It’s a little different when both had been married before then got divorced. My mom says “what’s yours is mine, mine is yours” they share their money even though they have two different accounts. My dad pays his bills, and my mom pays her bills. They have argued about money a couple of times just because my mom likes to invest in equipment, land, and houses now and my dad doesn’t care too much for that. He just spends his money on his hobbies which are fishing and hunting. Anyway, they have worked it out with bumps in the road here and there.
Is money just a piece of paper? Someone made me look at money a different way by saying it's just a piece of paper. In the scriptures, 1 Timothy 6:10 says “For the love of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after; they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. In class, we talked about how people praise money they put it above anything else. Doing so ruins relationships. When I started working, I was all about earning money. To me, money was worth a lot. I could buy or purchase whatever I desired or needed. Well, I realized later that life is not all about money. God should be the center of your life. As I am in the stage of finding someone and being with that someone for eternity, I realize you can’t buy relationships. “I can live without money, but I cannot live without love.” Money is a necessity if you put God at the top, he with bless you financially. Money is worth little to me I could care less to make millions. My desire is God’s plan to get married and have a family. Family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
